The Lawyers Association of St. Louis has long been recognized in the St. Louis metropolitan area as the association for trial attorneys. Membership includes both plaintiff and defense attorneys and all members of the judiciary of the federal, state and local benches.
In addition to be being known as an association for trial attorneys, The Lawyers Association hosts a variety of programs. The Gridiron, the association’s signature program, is a musical spoof on the St. Louis legal community. The Gridiron, which is held each November, is written, directed and performed by members of the association. Other premier events include an annual Judicial Appreciation dinner, a dinner recognizing black history month, and the presentation of the Award of Honor to an attorney who is an outstanding trial attorney whose service to the profession and community merits recognition.
The association hosts CLE seminars (led by both Judges and lawyers) through the year as well as provides social networking opportunities for lawyers of all ages. Each spring the association holds its annual Picnic and Softball Game (Judges vs. Lawyers), as well as a Memorial Service to remember those members of the Bench and Bar who died throughout the year. Social action involvement includes participating in Habitat for Humanity.
The Milton F. Napier Scholarship Awards are sponsored by The Lawyers Association of St. Louis. The award is presented to a 3rd year law student each year that excels in trial advocacy from the law schools at Saint Louis University and Washington University.
The Lawyers Association of St. Louis was founded in 1934 to include all members of the Bench and Bar regardless of ethnicity and religion. The association was an immediate success. Through the years members of The Lawyers Association have become some of the community’s top trial attorneys and have been appointed to the federal, state and local benches.
